Sooooo many questions... I know. Lets try and answer a few of these... I will add more as they come in.
Q: What does it feel like to ride a bike with a sidecar attached?
A: I still remember when I put my first sidecar together years ago, it was finished and sitting in my driveway and I was too afraid to get on and ride the thing! :-) Fortunately I had a real enduro biking enthusiast friend who made me give him a go... within minutes he was racing around pulling donuts on my dirt driveway, it's really like nothing else, its a bike but its not, its a trike but its not... and its certainly not a car. All I can say is its a unique experience, you steer a sidecar rig with your forearms and shoulders and there are different ways to ride it, slow and gentle or out of the seat leaning over the sidecar in high speed left hand turns, a real thrill! You really have to try it for yourself... sorry, I know this hasn't helped. :-)
Q: Do you need a special licence?
A: No, just your normal motorcycle licence will suffice. Once your sidecar is fitted and all the lights, indicators etc are working just take it down to you closest vehicle testing station (I always use Decra), they will then issue you with a piece of paper that you then take back to the licencing department and they will then issue you with a new licence disc for your bike that reads motorcycle with sidecar.
Q: How many passengers allowed on a sidecar rig?
A: By law three are allowed... rider, pillion and sidecar passenger.
Q: Can you fit this sidecar to another make of motorcycle?
A: Anything is possible but you would have to make up your connection points on your bike and it would have to be a big bike with power over 1000cc.... I only use BMW GS's... they have a proven track record for being good pullers.
